Hello my lovelies, let’s talk dark circles. UGH…they are the worst! I am one of those unfortunate olive-toned skin Indian with under-eye circles so dark that I look like I have two black eyes. And as a momma of two, they’re not getting any better. No matter what I tried they would alway peak through. The problem wasn’t the products I was using but it was the fact that I wasn’t color correcting. Thank god I discovered Vasanti when I lived in Canada. Its two in one product! It color corrects my eyes along with concealing the dark circles.
Before I get started I wanted to share a little bit about Vasanti. It was created in 1998 by four Indian sister as a result of not being able to find beauty products that worked on deeper skin tones. There was a lack of choice, and visiting makeup counters became intimidating. So they created something that they noticed there was a need for.
As much as beauty and skincare brands would love you to believe it, there is no one miracle product that will do the trick. And no matter how full coverage the concealer is the grayness and the ashiness would alway peak through if you don’t color correct. So, I rely on a combination of three makeup steps. The key is to treat AND conceal…not one or the other! Here are the 3 steps I take to correct and conceal my undereye dark circles.
Step 1: Prep your eyes!
I can not express how important skincare is. It’s 100% necessary, it will help with your dark circles and also the way your makeup applies. Before I do anything, I ALWAYS prep my eyes. Using a good eye cream is key, especially a hydrating one so concealer doesn’t settle into your fine lines and wrinkles. I’m currently using eye wonder 2.0 from Vasanti!
Step 2: Color Correct and Conceal your eyes!
Using a corrector has been game changer for combating my dark circles. The logic is that peach/orange are the opposite of blue/purple on the color wheel, so by applying them under your eyes, you counteract the darkness and even out the skin tone, thus giving you a good base for the concealer! It’s a night and day difference for me. I’m currently using and absolutely loving Vasanti Liquid V02. What I love about this color correcting concealer compared to others is the formula and consistency of it. It is not cakey or settles into my fine lines and wrinkles. And the orange shade blends seamlessly into your skin tone like a concealer without leaving an orangy-red looking stain as others do. I’ve tried COUNTLESS concealers, but my current holy grail. I swear nothing covers as this does…NOTHING. I’ve tried several others that some beauty blogger friends claim to be dupes, but they still don’t cut it for me! I apply this in a triangle shape under my eye and then blend with my Beauty Blender for a flawless finish.
Step 3: Set your eyes! (optional)
Set it and forget it! Ideally, you want to set the area with a translucent or yellow tone powder. This not only helps to set the concealer, making it last longer, but it also helps to avoid creasing. You can also use your pressed powder if you don’t have a loose setting powder. I actually prefer it more.
